An aptitude test to help assess the students their area of interest will soon be developed by the HRD ministry. The official sources revealed that the central government will be working on a national aptitude test to help the students. This is a very positive step which has been taken so that the students will be able to choose the right course and decide their career. This will also help them in understanding their potential.

According to the officials, an experts team is working on creating the content and the items which will be a part of the test for students of class IX. They have designated this task to the officials who are a part of the Central Board of the Secondary Education (CBSE), National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and psychometric experts. The experts will be working on designing a prototype for this assessment test.

Smriti Irani said that this test will be very useful for the parents also as after knowing that their kids are not scoring well in a particular test, they will not push them towards doing that. For increasing the quality of the education, she informed that an initiative has been taken by the government known as the national ranking framework for the institutions.

According to an official, a team of experts from various organizations like that of CBSE and NCERT and many other bodies will be working on the same so that they are able to create a prototype. After they create a prototype, this will be tested on a couple of areas, after which feedback will be taken and the final decision will be taken accordingly. It was also mentioned that this process is in its preliminary stage and this test will be optional and later only it will be made an additional tool for the students as it will help them in making the right choice for their career.

The central government is also thinking on providing certificates to the students after the test. The government is also trying to work in tandem with the state governments for improving the quality of the education.

CBSE spokesperson, Rama Sharma, said, “CBSE has conducted a lot of aptitude tests in the past. Tests like these will only help the students and the parents make the right decision.”
