CBSE to hold national level drawing competition to mark 68th Republic Day

The Human Resource and Development Ministry has instructed all the schools affiliated to KVs/ NVS / CBSE, states and UTs Boards to hold a national level painting/ drawing competition to mark the 68th Republic Day celebrations. The CBSE has joined hands with the ministry for the purpose.

The CBSE Republic Day contest is a painting/drawing competition to be held at the respective schools of the students on January 16 & 17, 2017 where the students will have to make drawings on any type of A4 size on the topics thus given:

Category 1: Class 6-8 – Swachh Bharat or the School of my Dreams
Category 2: Class 9-10 – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat or the Digital IndiaThey can use oil/pastel/

The students can use oil/pastel/water colour as per their choice.

Once the competition is held, the schools will have to forward the winning entries to the Regional office by January 19, 2017. The 10 best-judged entries in each category will be forwarded by the regional office to the HQs of KVs, NVS and CBSE by January 21. The KVs/NVS/ CBSE and states and Union Territories will upload 20 winning entries on MHRD website on January 24, 2017.

No cash prizes are to be given to the winning students. However, all the participants will be given an E-certificate of participation and the best winning entries will be given E-Certificates of merit. The entries will be judged on the basis of originality of expressions, presentation, relevance to the topic and technique.

Heads of schools have been requested by the Board to encourage their students to participate in the competition. The entries not received as per the timeline mentioned above will not be entertained. Also, the entries received through e-mail will not be considered. Last year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had instructed all the affiliated schools to hold a national level essay writing competition, in English and Hindi, for Republic Day celebration in association with MHRD.

Four essay topics in three categories – Class I to V, Class VI to VIII and Class IX to XII – have been given for the competition. The essay writing competition is scheduled to be conducted between January 10 and January 16, 2016, in the schools for all students. The winners of category I (Classes I-IV) got Rs 2,000 each, winners of category II (Classes V-VIII) and category III (Classes IX-XII) got Rs3,000 and Rs4,000 respectively.
