August 09, 2017, Update: The official notification for UGC NET 2017 examination has been released today by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The candidates may now view the detailed information bulletin at the CBSE NET website: www.cbsenet.nic.in. The applications can be filled from August 11, dig in below for more details.
CBSE will conduct the next edition of National Eligibility Test (NET) on 5th November 2017. The Board conducts NET to determine the eligibility for junior research fellowship and for Assistant professor or both, on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC). The test will be conducted in 85 subjects at 91 selected NET Examination Cities across the country. The candidates who gets qualified can study research in the subject of their post-graduation and are also eligible for assistant professor.
CBSE announced in a recent notice that the application process would begin on 11th August. The aspirants will have one month window to make applications for UGC NET 2017 and hence the application process would end on 11th September. While CBSE also mentioned in the notice that the detailed notification will be out by 4th August, the same has not been done. With the constant delay in the publication of detailed notification of UGC NET Nov 2017 from CBSE’s end, the aspirants fear if the application process would start as per schedule or not.
As per the rules, the applicant should be less than 28 years old, however, 5 years relaxation will be given to OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PWD category candidates. 3 years relaxation is also provided for candidates having L.L.M. degree. All the candidates must have Aadhaar Cards while submitting the CBSE NET 2017 application, for authentication purposes. The candidates will have to fill online application for the test from the official website cbsenet.nic.in.
The candidates who will be applying for the CBSE NET 2017 should be having Master’s degree or equivalent in listed subjects scoring 55% from any state or central recognized university (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). Candidates who are in their final year are also allowed to appear for the exams, however, they can’t be awarded with the post before qualifying their degree exam.
CBSE NET 2017 Exam will consist of 3 papers, which will feature a total of 175 objective type questions including all three papers. First and second paper will have 50 questions each, while third paper will have 75 questions. Candidate can have the access of choosing the paper medium i.e., either Hindi or English. The first paper stocks general aptitude questions, the second and third paper includes questions related to concerned subjects. Each question is of 2 marks and fortunately, there won’t be negative marking in the exam.
The first and second paper will be conducted from 9:30 am to 10:45 am & 11.15 am to 12.30 pm respectively. Whereas the third paper will be from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The candidates will have to secure minimum 40% qualifying marks in the NET examination. Based on the qualifying marks, CBSE will prepare a merit list for each category and subject. As per the new rules, 6% of total candidates will be declared NET qualified.
