JAT category students deprived of 15% quota in AIPMT 2015: CBSE latest notice

Now here comes a turmoil when AIPMT organizing community CBSE passed the notification that JAT category will no more be treated as other backward classes (OBC) and is shifted to the GENERAL CATEGORY.

Well this must be a real shock to the students who applied and were in a thought of 15% seat reservation but CBSE put a full stop to their wings. As a result of this notice such candidates were asked to change their category status from OBC to general in AIPMT 2015 application from 28 May to 30 May.

“The classification of applicants fitting in with JAT Community has been moved from OBC to General. The individuals who have requested the 15% All India Quota Seats furthermore for admission to the seats under the control of States/Universities/Institutions taking part in AIPMT 2015 are obliged to make rectification in the application frame,” the CBSE warning said. AIPMT- an entrance examination conducted for the selection of students in government medical and dental colleges for their education in MBBS and BDS. It is conducted for selection of students from all over India excluding Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir. Earlier it used to give 15% All India Quotas in these government medical colleges.

In India, if we talk about government medical college seats reservation, through AIPMT there were 130 Government Medical and 30 Dental Colleges with approximately 3200 seats in MBBS and 300 seats in BDS. This was the proceedings that were taken care of before this new notice.

The question arises: why all this happened?

Here the answer is , all these changes occurred due to the judgment made by the Supreme court of India, in the Writ Petition(Civil) NO. 274 of 2014, Ram Singh &Ors.Versus Union of India, regarding OBC reservation to ‘JAT Community’.

According to this petition the supreme court of India disagree with the thought of union government that Jats in the 9 (nine) States is a backward community.

A relaxation is provided to the candidates belonging to the JAT category that they have to transfer a signed and examined/scanned duplicate of the endeavor appended to this notification. The applicants having a place with JAT Community are obliged to send their solicitation/undertaking on the encased proforma alongside the examined duplicate of their OBC Certificate saying their group as JAT on email id aipmt.cbse@nic.in till May 30, 2015.

CBSE strictly mentioned that all the proceedings should be online; any offline proceedings will not be entertained. The roll no. should be there in the subject field when the candidate will send the request of change of category from JAT –OBC to UR through email. The requests should be send before 28/05/2015. It is unclear how CBSE will react to the request sent after 30/05/2015.
