CBI radars CSJM University for CPMT exam details in MP Vyapam scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the agency probing the Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam scam, has sought details of the CPMT exam from CSJM University authorities. The university had conducted the exam in the 2010-11 academic session. A team of CBI officials had camped at the CSJM university for a week for collecting the required information and left on Thursday, a report via TOI says.

vyapam scam This is for the first time that the university has come on CBI radar since it took over Vyapam probe in November last. Till now, the Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College and Hartcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) were on agency’s radar.

In-Depth: The CPMT 2010 Matter

The CBI had asked CSJM University to provide the record of the students who had participated in CPMT 2010-11. For this, the CBI officials had met the vice-chancellor of the university and sought help. This is so because in the CPMT exam held for the academic session 2010-11, four students passed the exam on fraud basis. They were blamed on the basis that they themselves did not appeared for the exam instead made someone else sit on their place. At that time the police registered the case and the investigation also was kick-started but was left in the middle.

In the year 2010, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, was given the responsibility of conducting CPMT. Four students- Afaroze, Dhirendra, Suryaveendra and Pinky Arya was found guilty for seeking the admission fraudulently. An FIR was logged on Suryaveendra. Pinky Arya since that day has been absconding. Despite allegations Dhirendra, Afaroze, Surveendra have attended the medical school. Though Afaroze wasstopped from appearing in the MBBS final year examination. The FIR was lodged on him then. All students were then suspended after which Afaroze has approached the court.

As of now, CBI team has taken the step forward to exam the university for the requisite data because as per the Madhya Pradesh police, CSJM University officials till date have not supported them in any sort of investigation. As per the university Registrar: The CBI team had come to the university campus and asked for complete record of CPMT exam of academic year 2010-11. The exam coordinator had provided all the required details to the CBI and the CBI team has left the campus.
