State cabinet approves amendment for Odisha State civil service examination to be conducted every year

The State Cabinet of Odisha has approved an amendment to Odisha Civil Services Rules 1991 on May 30, a meeting held under presidentship of Naveen Patnaik, chief minister of Odisha. According to this amendment the Odisha Combined Competitive Examination (State Civil Services) will be conducted every year.

It is an excellent news for aspirants of Odisha Domicile who has been preparing for competitive exams. The last Odisha Civil Services Examination was conducted in 2011 and due to upper age limit a lot of candidates will not be able to apply for next examination. To allow those ineligible candidates Odisha Government will conduct the State Civil Services exam in this year.

State Cabinet also added a new rule of negative marking for various examinations with multiple choice question papers of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and for each wrong answer response 1/4 marks will be deducted. How ever no marks will be deducted for answers not attempted by students.

The Examination will be organized in two phases i.e. Preliminary and Mains Examination. Only 12 candidates per post will be called to appear in the Main examination. Cabinet also decided to set up eight Advanced Skill Training Institute (ASTI) under Skill Development project of Odisha.
