The registration forms for CA CPT June 2017 examination would be available from April 5th, 2017, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has notified.
CA CPT is the first step towards becoming a successful Chartered Accountant. The upcoming Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 18th June, 2017 in two sessions: First Session -10.30 AM to 12.30 PM (IST), Section – A Fundamentals of Accounting and Section – B Mercantile Laws while second session – 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM (IST), Section – C General Economics and Section – D Quantitative Aptitude by the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
The aspiring candidates for admission to Common Proficiency Test (CPT) are required to apply online at the official website (www.icai.org) from April 05, 2017 till April 27, 2017. The candidates can remit the examination fee online by using VISA or MASTER Credit / Debit Card. It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after April 27, 2017 with late fee. The fees payable for the Common Proficiency Test is Rs 1000/- for centres in India, Rs 1700/- for centres in Kathmandu (Nepal) and $ 300/- for centres in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai & Muscat.
The aforesaid CPT is open only to students registered with the ICAI for the Common Proficiency Course on or before April 03, 2017 and must meet the eligibility criteria as stated by the ICAI itself.
The next CPT exam will be in December 2017 for which the registrations should be done before October 1st, 2017.
Till date, the Candidates of Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Intermediate (IPC) and Final examinations, until the CA exams held in November/December 2016, had the option of: Buying the OMR examination application forms, from the counters of the regional offices/branches of the Institute, filling it up and submitting them along with the demand draft for the applicable fee; and submitting examination applications online and pay the examination fee online.
However, it has been decided to discontinue OMR examination application forms with effect from May, 2017 Examination onwards for the students’ examinations. In other words candidates would not be able to submit OMR exam forms along with demand draft for the applicable fee, henceforth.
All candidates desirous of applying for CPT, Intermediate (IPC) and Final Examinations will henceforth be required to submit their examination application forms online only, at http://icaiexam.icai.org and also pay the applicable examination fee online, during the specified period.
The questions asked in the CA CPT examination are objective and multiple choice based paper. Candidates are allowed to opt for Hindi medium Question Paper Booklet for answering the questions.
Eligibility: To become a Chartered Accountant, eligible candidate must enrol with the ICAI for CPC (Common Proficiency Course) after passing class 10 examination. After appearing the class 12 or equivalent Senior Secondary Examination, candidate needs to appear in the CA CPT examination.
Qualifying Marks: The candidate appearing in the Common Proficiency Test shall ordinarily be declared to have passed the test if he/she obtains, at one sitting, a minimum of 30 percent marks in each section and a minimum of 50 percent marks in the aggregate of all the sections comprised in CPT (Examination), subject to the principle of negative marking, in such manner as may be determined by the Council from time to time.
Candidates securing a minimum of 60 percent marks upto 10th Rank will be issued Rank Certificate within 4 weeks of the declaration of result provided a minimum of 2,500 candidates appear in the CPT held on a particular day.
