CPT examination was conducted on 18th June in two sessions for the students of Common Proficiency Course. The students who had registered for the Course (on or before 3rd April 2017) were eligible to apply for CA CPT June 2017 exam, for which the applications were submitted from April 5 to 27. Later, the application window was once again opened for five days from May 2 to 6 as many students complained they could not apply for the exam. As per the schedule, ICAI conducted the CPT June 2017 exam on Sunday, check below for more information on the exam.
CPT June 2017 exam was conducted in two sessions on Sunday, wherein the first shift (morning session) was conducted from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and the second shift (afternoon session) was conducted from 2 pm to 4 pm. CPT exam comprises of four papers (sections) and hence two papers were conducted in each session. Section A – Fundamentals of Accounting paper carried 60 marks, Section B – Mercantile Laws carried 40 marks, both the section papers were conducted in the morning session. Section C – General Economics and Section D – Quantitative Aptitude were conducted in the afternoon session and both carried 50 marks each.
ICAI organized CPT June 2017 exam in 187 cities in India and 5 overseas centers. CPT is an objective type multiple choice questions based exam and comes as an entry level test for Chartered Accountancy course. ICAI organizes CPT exam twice a year in June and December.
CPT June 2017 exam was probably conducted as an objective type test for the last time. The CA exam is divided into 3 parts – Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) and the Final exam. ICAI is looking to change the CPT exam pattern and combine it with subjective question paper. As per Mr. Deveraja Reddy, ICAI President, “This will stop some candidates getting qualified by fluke and allow only serious aspirants into the Chartered Accountancy course.
The candidates who score a minimum of 30% marks in each section (subject) paper and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all the sections will be declared CPT qualified. The results of CPT June 2017 exam are expected to be declared in mid-July. ICAI will publish CPT result at its official website www.icai.nic.in.
