The written examination for the recruitment to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) is being held today. Reportedly, over 53 thousand will sit for this exam which was notified for the recruitment to Section engineer, Maintainer and Train Operator posts. In another move that provides a grim look at unemployment in India, more than 53 thousand aspirants have applied for these vacancies.
The Phase-I of Namma Metro in the Bangalore city is all set to commence its full operations in the month of April 2017. Simultaneously, process of recruiting adequate staff to take care of operations along the North-South corridor has also been set in motion. The sixth recruitment exam for 308 posts across three cadres is scheduled to be held on September 18, 2016. The Karnataka Examinations Authority is the official organising body for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) exam for which as many as whopping 53,824 aspirants have applied. The exams will be held at colleges in Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru and Mysuru, said Ranganath P Deshpande, Manager, Information Technology.
This is the sixth recruitment round conducted by BMRCL. While there are a few applications from other states, the mandatory requirement is that the candidates should understand, speak, read and write Kannada. The pay scale stated by BMRCL for Maintainer posts is Rs 10,170 to 18,500 per month, Rs 14,000 to 26,950 per month for Train Operator and for Section Engineer, it is Rs 16,000 to 30,770 per month.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC), a joint venture of the Indian Government and Government of Karnataka had released the notification inviting interested, eligible candidates for the posts of Maintainer, Section Engineer, and Train operator in past months. The most amazing fact to be taken into consideration is that 9,638 applicants are trying their luck for just 11 Section Engineer (SE) openings. This translates to 876 engineering graduates across different streams vying for every SE vacancy available. While on the other hand for the position that of Train Operators (TOs), 25,890 applicants have applied for 225 TO posts and for the 72 Maintainer positions 18,296 applications have been received.
Applicants who have applied for BMRCL Engineer Recruitment 2016 will be selected based on their performance in the written test, Kannada language test and medical fitness test.
