Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani organised online test BITSAT 2016 in May 2016 for admissions to integrated first-degree programmes for the academic year 2016-17. The admissions will be done in Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) courses in various disciplines offered at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses.
BITSAT 2016 was conducted over a period of 15 days, from May 14 to 28 in online test centres in 51 cities across the country. Around 2 lakh candidates took the BITSAT 2016 and were required to submit the admission application with 12th marks and preferences to different degree programmes by June 30. The merit position of all eligible candidates for their preferred campus/course will be prepared on the basis of their total scores in BITSAT-2016.
Upon receiving all the admission applications, BITS released the merit position of all applicants on the basis of their scores in BITSAT 2016. As per the procedure, there will be two separate merit lists, one for all programmes except B.Pharm. while other for B.Pharm.
As per the official statistics, 304 candidates have scored equal to or above 400 marks; 2,319 scored marks equal to or above 350; 8789 scored equal to or above 300 marks; 22,441 scored equal to or above 250 marks and 32,565 candidates scored marks equal to or above 225.
BITSAT 2016 score have been announced at the official website www.bitsadmission.com, candidates can check their score by logging into the official web portal using their respective application number and password.
Last year, the cut off for B.E. (Civil) went to 312 for Pilani campus while it was 303 for BITS Hyderabad. The highest cut-off for BITS Pilani campus was 378 marks for B.E. (Computer Science), while it was 351 and 339 for BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad respectively. For B.E. (Mechanical), the cut off was 345, 319 and 315 for BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad respectively.
BITS has announced cut-offs at the end of Iteration I that sets the lowest cut-off for admission to any program (other than B.Pharm.) at 307 while lowest cut-off for admission to B.Pharm is 248. The cut-off for waiting list for all programs (except B.Pharm) is 280 and for B.Pharm is 210. BITS usually divide all candidates in two lists based on their BITSAT score, Admit list and Wait list.
The results of II Iteration for admission to integrated first-degree programs will be announced on July 12, 2016, by 5 PM.
