Bihar Humanities topper Ruby Rai, who was earlier arrested for being involved in a scam that has jolted the roots of Bihar’s education system, has once again managed to run into the national news. Latest forensic science lab report has proved that Ruby did not write her examination copy herself, instead, someone else has written her exam copy which made her the topper in this year board exam.
The whole toppers’ scam came into focus when a journalist interviewed her after the announcement of results. Arts topper Ruby and some other toppers were caught by the media while answering the most basic questions related to their studies in the most preposterous ways. Following a re-examination in fornt of the Board officials, she failed to answer the basic questions and therefore, was later arrested.
BSEB former Chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad, his wife and former JDU legislator Usha Sinha, mastermind of the scam Bachha Rai were earlier arrested by the police and a 4,124-page chargesheet was filed in Patna Civil Court in connection to this case. All in all, 28 persons have been arrested so far, while five are out on bail and four others are still absconding.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj is heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is probing the toppers scam and under his guidance, several loopholes have been discovered. As soon as the forensic science report surfaced, he said a fresh FIR may be filed in the toppers scam case. He said, “After the report of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) that has made it clear that Ruby Rai has not written copy, the SIT may interrogate some of the main accused in the case again.”
Vishun Roy College had been under suspicion for a long time and the further investigation has led to the fact that the college had been charging extra fee from students for providing them with cent percent result. Experts had been writing the answer sheets of those students willing to get good marks and the latest forensic science report has proved as the final nail in the coffin. “An examination of answer sheets also brought to light the fact that the marks jotted down on her copies were tampered with many times,” SSP said today.
For now, SIT would interrogate some of the main accused for one more time.
