Bharathiar University suspends its controller of exams

Controller of Examinations, Bharathiar University has been accused in the sale of semester exam answer papers to the scrap dealers. As a result of this, the controller of examinations of the university, Gladys Leema Rose was suspended. James G. Pitchai, vice-chancellor of the university formed a committee and this committee had indicated her involvement in the scam. He also said that suspension orders have been issued to her.

bharathiar universityIt was only recently the scam that involved Rose and KG. Senthil Vasan, Registrar was brought to light. These two had pocketed huge amount of Rs 22,17,150 by selling 147.8 tonnes of answer sheets to scrap dealers in Coimbatore. Non-Teaching Staffs Association of Bharathiar university protested from on 24 August. They vented out their anger by observing hunger strike on 26 August and demanded inquiry in the issue.

Vice chancellor held talks with the members of the association and assured that probe on the issue would be done.  Some members of the senate had organized investigation in this issue and even submitted report. It was said that based on the report given by the committee, the controller of the examinations was suspended. The details of the report were not disclosed. It was said that further inquiries regarding the issue would be carried out.

Bharathiar university established in 1982, is a major university in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The name of university was derived from famous Tamil poet Subramanya Bharathy. The university got recognition in the year 1985. A survey in 2011 showed that the university was 3rd in the state of Tamil Nadu and 29th in India. Bharathiar university has 104 affiliated institutions under it. On 24 February 2007, the university celebrated its silver jubilee.
