Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2017 notified for 167 Computer Operator posts

The Secretariat Administration Department, Government of Assam released an official notification on 16th August, inviting applications for the recruitment of Computer Operators for the Assam Secretariat, Government of Assam, Janata Bhawan, Dispur, Guwahati. There are total 167 vacancies of Computer Operators to be filled through Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2017.

Of total vacancies, 114 belong to English Language Computer Operator post, while the other 53 vacancies are notified for Assamese Language Computer Operator. All the applications can be filled on the official website by 19 September, 2017. The mode of application is restricted to online only and hence, no other mode for submitting application will be entertained by the department. The Secretariat Administration Department in its official notification has clearly mentioned that all the aspiring candidates’ must chose the category of the post they are applying for, that is, English Language Computer Operator or Assamese Language Computer Operator.

The candidates who wishes to appear in the exam must be a graduate from a recognized university and should also have pursued a six months diploma/certificate in computer proficiency from a recognized university. The required age limit to apply for the exam lies between 18-43 years, however, relaxation of five years will be given for SC and ST candidates.

While, the candidates belonging to general category are required to pay Rs 250 as examination fee, an amount of Rs 150 is decided as examination fees for all the SC/ST/OBC candidates.

The applicants will be subjected to a written examination followed by Computer Proficiency Practical test. The written examination will be held at 15 centers located in Silchar, Diphu, Halflong, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Majuli, Nagaon, Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Mangaldai, Gawahati, Nalbari, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, and Dhubri.

The written examination for Assam Secretariat recruitment 2017 will be of 100 marks, having 100 multiple choice questions. It will test candidates’ understanding on topics such as General English, Computer Theory and General Awareness carrying weightage of 40, 40 and 20 marks respectively.

A total of 668 candidates will be shortlisted from the written examination for the Computer Proficiency practical test. All the shortlisted candidates will have to reach in Guwahati along with original testimonials including original copy of Treasury Challan to appear for the practical test, which will be of 100 marks.
