Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi assured that the government would provide jobs to 2200 youths of rural areas under the State Livelihood Mission. According to CM Tarun Gogoi, another 1800 young people are also being trained and would be provided jobs against goal of 32000 jobs in many fields by the end of this year.
Chief Minister further added, “Assam still has a long way to go in implementation of employment generation schemes through skill development.” He also tweeted his happiness for unveiling the life size statue of Lakshmikanth Bezbaruah, literary icon of Assam and said it was the most memorable day of his life. He said, “Had Lakshminath Bezbaruah not taken the challenges of those days, the identity of Assamese society would not have the same.” The statue “will always remind every Assamese not only about their identity and culture but also help promote a greater Assamese society,” he added.
He spoke about Lakshminath Bezbarauh’s efforts in the past that had made Assamese society more noticeable now. The Chief Minister concluded that the statue would remind Assamese of their identity and culture apart from promoting bigger Assamese society.
Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Society, ASRLMS is an independent and autonomous institution formed by Panchayat and Rural Development Department of Assam for the benefit of the rural population of the state. ASRLMS promotes SHGs, provides skill development and placement for youths for wage based jobs in private firms. It also provides self employment training programmes.
Tarun Gogoi also met with the ace mathematician Anand Kumar and urged him to start Super 30 concept in Assam to help poor students of the State.
