Anna University TNEA 2017 online application starts, apply before May 31

TNEA 2017 application process has been commenced today by Anna University. The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions abbreviated as TNEA is being co-ordinated by Anna University, Chennai for admissions to B.E./ B.Tech. degree courses for the academic session 2017-18.

The whole admission process is conducted through a single window counselling system. Moe than 1.5 lakh Engineering aspirants enrol themselves into 563 Engineering Colleges of Tamil Nadu through TNEA.

TNEA 2017 is a single window admission for first year B.E./ B.Tech. Degree courses of the University Departments/ Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for seats surrendered by the Self-Financing Engineering Colleges.

The admissions under TNEA 2017 are open for Tamil Nadu students only.The HSC pass students can apply online for TNEA 2017 at the official portal www.tnea.ac.in. Before filling the TNEA application form, the students are advised to go through the information brochure carefully so as to check the eligibility criteria for admissions as well as instructions to fill the online application.

For filling TNEA 2017 application form, the students will have to register themselves at the portal. The students will also have to pay Rs. 500 as registration fee (Rs. 250 for SC/ST/SCA candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) which can be paid by Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking. The next step is to fill the academic details in the form. Once the application is filled, the application number will be generated, which will also be printed in the application. The students are advised to note down the application number for future reference.

After filling the online application form, the students will have to take the printout of filled-in online application and submit it to “The Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai – 600025” along with all the required enclosures. The applications can be sent either by post or in person. The applications shall reach the office on or before June 3.

TNEA Admission Process: After the scrutiny of received applications, the students will be awarded Random Number and Ranks. The selection of students for counselling will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics- 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100) in the qualifying examination.

The students will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. The allotment of branch/ College chosen by the students will be based on the merit and communal reservation.

The selection will be made under seven categories following the rules of reservation of TN government:

Backward Class – 26.5%
Backward Class Muslim – 3.5%
Most Backward Class & Denotified Communities – 20%
SC – 15%
SC (Arunthathiyars) – 3%
ST – 1%

The remaining 31% seats will be for open competition.
