Andhra University, also known as AU, will soon be sending a proposal to the Central government seeking their permission to recognize it as a heritage university. It is because there are a lot of buildings in the University which have some historical significance attached to it. As a result of which, the University has asked the financial assistance of Rs 100 crore so as to maintain the historical buildings.
Andhra University, which has focused on imparting education globally to the students of all the sections of the society, was established in the year 1926. Since then, it has created professionals with the help of its well-endowed faculty. With its team efforts, it has never failed in imparting knowledge to its students. It offers a wide range of academic programmes to its students. Not only this, the university has focused on offering niche courses like that of Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering. It has been very quick in implementing such courses and at the same time offering placements to its students.
Recently, a meeting was held where the Vice-Chancellor of the University, G Nageswara Rao met all the faculty members, HODs and principals of the different colleges under the university to inform them about the same. He also explained the different steps that will be taken by the university so that the standard of the campus can be improved and everything is done in a well-drafted manner.
Special focus is on improving the way classroom teaching is being done. The plan is to have an e-classroom facility and also the infrastructure of the classroom will also be taken care of. In the past, Andhra University has been very much active in doing a lot of research and academically oriented work. Now, there are talks that some change will also be made like those of changes in the syllabus and the curriculum. Also, a special cell will be employed known as the audit cell which will monitor everything like examinations, research, and teaching.
The varsity administration is also trying to be stringent when it comes to attendance. Students who will be absent for twenty or more days will not be allowed to appear for the examinations. The University will also enter into a MoU with National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University and the University of California for different exchange programmes.
