Aligarh Muslim University to organize Alumni Meet 2015 in October

The annual Alumni meet for the year 2015 would be organized by the Aligarh Muslim University in the month of October on 18th and 19th. This was confirmed by Dr. Subail Sabir, Chairman of Alumni affairs committee, who had  recommended all ex-students living in various parts of the world to come together and relive some old memories about their university.

The annual coming together of students would provide the ex-students an opportunity to share their aspirations and dreams. He further added that Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, Vice-Chancellor of AMU, had great hopes towards the university’s alumni and even wanted their presence at the prestigious university to see the developments that had taken place in the last few years.

According to Lt. Gen. Shah, AMU had always had high regards for its alumni and treated it as important stakeholders in the growth of the university. Dr. Sabir said that the agenda items pertaining to the alumni meet are in the stages of completion and would be posted for general information in short time period. He further said that, to promote the interaction with faculty members and students, the alumni visit to departments and residential halls would also be organized.

One main feature of this alumni meet in October 2015 would be that the event would be a grand affair as the date of the meet would be coinciding with 198th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, founder of AMU and whose contributions towards society are monumental. Large number of ex-students of AMU living in Gulf and USA have shown their willingness to take part in the alumni meet.

Aligarh Muslim University was founded in the year 1875 by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. It is a public university, funded by Central Government of India. AMU has academic staff of 2000 and about 30,000 students study in this prestigious university. AMU was ranked third in 2014, as per Times Higher Education, Asia Ranking. City of Aligarh has the main campus which is spread over 467 hectares of land.
