Unlike other National Law Universities (NLUs) which admit students through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) conducts its own entrance exam for admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. NLU Delhi has 83 seats in B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Five-year integrated program and 40 seats in the one-year LL.M program. AILET 2017 has been conducted by the University to admit the students in these programs along with the Ph.D. course.
AILET 2017 (All India Law Entrance Test) was notified by NLU Delhi in January and the application process continued up to April 15. The admit cards were issued to all the eligible applicants on April 22, while the test has been conducted today on May 7.
NLU Delhi AILET 2017 was administered across 20 cities today in a single shift from 3 pm to 4.30 pm. There were three different papers under AILET as per the course. The paper for admissions in B.A. LL.B (Hons.) had 150 multiple choice questions distributed among five sections. Below is the section-wise distribution of questions:
- English – 35 questions
- General Knowledge – 35 questions
- Legal Aptitude – 35 questions
- Reasoning – 35 questions
- Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability) – 10 questions
Each question carried 1 mark, hence the maximum marks are 150.
For LL.M. aspirants, there were 100 multiple choice questions, each having 1 mark. One essay question of 50 marks was also there for the students, hence the maximum marks are 150 in this paper too. For Ph.D. admissions, the question paper had only 100 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each.
AILET 2017 answer key will be released for all the sets of question paper. Thousands of aspirants apply for admission in NLU Delhi and as the admissions depend on performance of the candidates in NLU AILET, the test has been conducted today. The students will be able to analyze their performance in today’s test with the help of AILET answer key, which is expected to be out soon.
The university will start the announcement of results in two weeks, but before that the candidates can assess their performance in the test through AILET answer key. The results of AILET 2017 will be announced in three phases, with the result for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) candidates on May 18, LL.M on July 1 and Ph.D. on July 15. The AILET results will be announced in the form of rank list, based on which the admission process will be carried out by NLU Delhi.
