The counselling for MBBS admission in AIIMS will kickoff from July 4. The first scheduled round of counselling will be held on three days in July, namely on July 4, 5 & 6.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had conducted an entrance examination whose result got declared on June 14, 2016. For all the medical aspirants, who had been seeking to get into the institute, this was the day they were waiting for. The candidates who are seeking admissions in its MBBS course and who sat for the entrance test are expected to be present for the three rounds of counselling if they have been shortlisted for the same. The prestigious institute would be holding three rounds of counselling for students who are seeking an admission in the MBBS course.
The schedule for counselling has been divided as such: the first counselling would be held on the 4, 5 and 6 of July 2016. The next counselling, that is the second one, would be held on August 4, 2016, almost a month after the first one. Then, the third one would happen again after a month from the second round. The third round of counselling is scheduled for September 6, 2016. Rare, yet possible instances arise when some seats are left if someone does not opt for them. In such cases, open counselling will be conducted on September 27, 2016.
Now that the schedule for counselling is out in open, there are other requirements that need to be fulfilled as well. The candidates who have been selected have to ensure that they carry mandatory documents on the dates of counselling. The documents that are necessary to be carried are the AIIMS MBBS Admit Card Call letter issued by AIIMS, New Delhi, Date of Birth certificate, Certificate/ Mark sheet from the board which shows that the candidates have passed the 10+2, Migration certificate from the University/Board last attended by the candidate, Category certificate (if applicable), 6 passport size photographs and also one set of self-attested copies of all the certificates, AIIMS MBBS entrance exam was conducted successfully on May 29, 2016.
AIIMS released the list of eligible candidates for first round of counselling, which mentions that total 1,89,357 candidates took the test, out of which 7,137 were declared qualified. Dr Ashok Jaryal, Sub Dean, Exams, AIIMS said, “Out of 7,137 qualified candidates, around 2000 will be called for the counselling sessions.” The institute is offering admissions in MBBS course for 672 seats.
The institute is a not a renowned one for nothing. It derives its importance from the fact that it was established by an Act of Parliament with the objects to advance the shape of teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education in all its branches. The idea is to exhibit a very good standard of Medical Education in India. With the help of this highest order for the training of personnel in the imperative branches of health activity, the main task is to acquire self-sufficiency in the medical college.
