AIIMS MBBS application form 2017 out: procedure to register online


All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the group the autonomous public medical colleges, which have also been declared as the institutes of national importance by the parliament of India, has started the process of MBBS admissions for the academic session set to begin in 2017.

The registration process for AIIMS MBBS 2017 entrance exam has commenced on 24 January, as it was confirmed. The medical aspirants can participate in the registration process through the official portal till the last date for filling application form, i.e 23 February 2017.

Getting a chance to study undergraduate medical course MBBS at one of the institutions of national importance like AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) requires one to attempt and qualify the respective MBBS entrance examination. Since the AIIMS conduct its own entrance exam, some odd-2 lakh candidates take the exam for only 672 seats (the seats have been increased to 700).

In 2016, the AIIMS MBBS entrance exam was held on 29 May, while the applications were filled from 15 February to 15 March. On one hand, when the application process of national-level NEET 2017 is being constantly delayed, AIIMS is going to start the process earlier than its usual schedule. Initially, it was announced that the online registration form for AIIMS MBBS entrance exam 2017 will be available in the first half of January, however, as the same was not done, many aspirants wondered if it will be open as per the last year’s schedule.

The notification for AIIMS MBBS 2017 exam has been released as the application process started today. The students having passed/ appearing/ appeared in Class 12 exams with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects are eligible to apply for the exam. The minimum aggregate marks in these subjects required for appearing in the exam are 60% for general & OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST/OPH candidates. The applications will be filled only through online mode. The official website ( now hosts the prospectus, detailed instructions for candidates and also the link for online registration.

AIIMS had already conveyed through the notice that applicants should get acquainted with the major activities related to the application process.

Dates and Details

AIIMS MBBS entrance exam will be held on 28th May 2017 as a computer-based test. The exam will be administered in two shifts: 9 am to 12.30 pm and 3 pm to 6.30 pm. The results of the entrance exam will be announced on 14 June and the counselling will be carried out in July, August & September in three phases. The Classes will be commenced from 1st August.

Last year, there were 77 seats on offer at AIIMS, Delhi and 600 seats in other six AIIMS (Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur & Bhubaneswar), 100 in each. As it was announced last year that the seats in AIIMS Delhi will also be increased to 100, the same has been implemented. The AIIMS MBBS Entrance exam 2017 will be conducted for admission to 700 seats, 100 each in 7 institutes.

Procedure to apply

Filling the online application form for AIIMS MBBS 2017 entrance exam is a 6-stage process and the aspirants can participate in the process at the official website ( On the home page of the website, click on ‘Academic Courses’ tab and select MBBS to register for the exam. Below is the step-by-step process for filling AIIMS MBBS application form.

Step 1: The candidates are required to register on the official website for the first time. Read all the instructions and then Click on Proceed. Now fill the details like name, father name, mother name, date of birth, category, OPH status, Nationality, Identity Proof details, email id, contact number etc and click on ‘Register’.

A message will appear on screen containing ‘Candidate ID’ and an Email & SMS will be sent to registered email id and mobile number having login credentials (candidate ID and password). Now change the password and re-login with new password for completing the application process. One should also re-check all the details filled in the registration form and edit, if required.

Step 2: After filling the registration form, the candidates are required to pay the application fee. The fee can be paid only through online mode viz. Debit card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking. The application fee is Rs. 100 for general & OBC candidates and Rs. 800 for SC & ST candidates. The OPH candidates are exempted from paying the fee.

Also take the printout of payment receipt as a proof of successful payment of application fee.

Step 3: In this step, the candidate is required to choose the examination city from given options. One should take utmost care while choosing a city as it cannot be changed later. Since there will be a limited number of seats in each test city (around 150 cities), the seats will be allotted on the first-come-first-serve basis. The applicants will not be given any chance to change the exam city, once allotted. Hence the students are encouraged to register, make payment, choose test city and submit the application form at the earliest to avoid not getting the selected city.

Step 4: After opting for the examination city, the candidate is required to fill the rest application form by entering the qualification and address details. One should refer to the official documents for filling this section to avoid any mistake.

Step 5: The candidate is required to upload latest passport size photograph, signature and thumb impression. The supported formats for these images are .gif, .png, .jpg/jpeg. The images should be 50-100 Kb in size, or they will not be accepted. Refer to the prospectus for specific details.

Step 6: After completing the Step 5, the candidate will be able to submit the application form. One should check all the details carefully and correct, if any information fed in the application form is incorrect/ incomplete. The application form contains all the details provided by the candidate during the above mentioned five steps. Once checked, click on ‘Final Submit’ button. The candidate will get an Acknowledge mail from AIIMS on click on Final Submit button.

The status of registration including rejection/ deficiencies in the application will be available on the AIIMS website on 7 March.

    I have register for 2017 AIIMS exam . And made a online payment too. But unable to do furthr steps as transaction has not been updated on website. I’m stuck at step2 for past 2 days. I even tried calling on helpline nobs provided but didnt recieve any reply from other side.what do i do now?? Help help
