Medical aspirants taking up their dream of studying in the finest institution of medical sciences in the Country are currently waiting for the announcement of the competitive entrance test which was conducted on 1 June. AIIMS MBBS entrance exam for the admissions to academic session 2015-16 was conducted across 154 cities and the result is awaited for declaration on 18 June. Result will be available at the notice board of AIIMS, Delhi as well as on online portal www.aiimsexams.org.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences was established by an Act of Parliament of 1956 and is an autonomous institution of National Importance. Six other AIIMS would be facilitating admissions for MBBS course apart from AIIMS, Delhi this session. AIIMS delhi initiated with the intake of 50 students for MBBS course which was increased to 77 from 2008 session while all other AIIMS would take admission to 100 seats individually. Other six AIIMS are at Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rishikesh and Bhubaneswar.
Online registrations for AIIMS MBBS entrance exam were open in the month of March/April and the test was conducted smoothly on 1st June. The entrance exam was taken via online mode and there were total 200 multiple choice questions based on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge while General Knowledge section covered 20 questions, rest topics covered 60 questions each.
Since the AIMMS MBBS result would be announced on 18 June, the merit list would be published along with. The admissions/counselling for MBBS admissions would be purely on the basis of merit list. All the candidates are required to score minimum qualifying marks in order to be eligible for counselling. Minimum cut off are 50% for General, 45% for OBC (Non Creamy Layer) and 40% for SC/ST category candidates.
Counselling would be conducted in 3 parts, 1st counselling to be done from 6 July to 9 July, 2nd counselling on 10 August and 3rd counselling on 7 September. An open counselling would also be conducted if any seat would be vacant in AIIMS, Delhi, this will be done on 23 September. The raw score obtained by candidates in the entrance test would be used to determining percentage score and percentile. Total number of candidates to be called for counselling will be 4 times the number of seats available in each category.
The academic session would start from 16 July for AIIMS Delhi, while from 1 August for rest institutions.
