The notification for Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for the academic session 2016-17 is expected to be rolled out soon. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India is the regulatory body for facilitating admissions in the management institutions across the Country. Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) Cell was constituted to coordinate all activities related to the conduct of national level test for admission to all management programs in AICTE approved institutions. AICTE conducts the admission test twice in a year, once in September and then in February. The qualified students are then placed in the merit list, which is then used by affiliated institutes to commence the admission procedure.
AICTE-CMAT 2016-17 Admissions :
It is expected that the registration procedure for CMAT 2016-17 (First test) will be started in the first week of next month, July. Management aspirants are looking forward to the official announcement by AICTE, the latest information can be fetched from the official web portal www.aicte-cmat.in.
While filling the online application form, candidates will have to fill three preferences for exam date and examination cities, the final decision will be taken by the examination authority on ‘first come first served’ basis.
There will be an application fee for all the applicants which could be submitted by online as well as offline modes including debit/credit card, net banking as well as bank challan. For the CMAT (Second test), the application fee was Rs. 1400 for General and OBC students while the same for rest of the applicants was Rs. 700, excluding bank charges in both cases. The exact schedule will be displayed in the official advertisement of CMAT 2016-17.
CMAT exam pattern : CMAT question paper includes 4 sections, namely, Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Language Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and General Awareness. Each section will be made up of 25 questions, which makes total questions in the paper to 100. Each right answer will be awarded 4 marks while one mark will be deducted for each wrong response.
CMAT 2016-17 will be computer based online test and will be taken for a duration of 180 minutes. Students looking forward to secure a spot in the CMAT merit list are advised to go through previous year question papers and prepare themselves for the test.
