The Department of Higher Education of Chandigarh has taken an initiative to apprise prospective applicants of all admission related information through Joint Prospectus. This is an endeavour to streamline the process of admissions in six Government institutions of Higher Education in Chandigarh. They are: Post Graduate Government College, Post Graduate Government College for girls, Post Graduate Government College, Post Graduate Government College for girls, Government College of Commerce, Business and Administration and Regional Institute of English.
Pay the application fee Online
With the launch of joint prospectus of all six government colleges for admissions by Director of Higher Education Jitender Yadav, the aforesaid colleges will facilitate students with e-banking for the first time, making the admission process online. No more the students have to stand in the long queues of bank in the scorching heat of summer.
However, students are also given a choice to submit hard copy of their application form. The colleges have tied up with 40 banks and online fee submission facility through e-banking or net-banking will help students to deposit their fee in a hassle-free manner round the clock. Students would also be able to get free printout of uploaded admission forms.

The online prospectus will be free of cost. However, the processing fee of Rs 250 will be charged only after the student seek admission into any of the six government colleges. Last date for Submission of Online Form through Website of Chandigarh Administration is June 24, 2016 while that for Hard Copy is June 19, 2016. The admission process is expected to kick-start from July 7, 2016.
Fill form through mobile app
Now, the students aspiring to take admission to city government colleges can fill the admission form of city government colleges on their mobile phone as the UT Higher Education Department has launched mobile applications for this.
The mobile app, developed by the Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh, is designed in such a way that all information related to the admission process, courses and the availability of seats in each college, fee structure and prospectus will be available on it.
City government Colleges collectively offer 43 courses in humanities, commerce and science streams. In addition to this, the colleges also offer career-oriented postgraduate diploma courses. These career-oriented courses are in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Skill Development.
Helpline Facility for students
To streamline the admission process, the education department will set up a helpline at all government colleges. Students can put up their queries at the helpline from 9 am to 1 pm, starting from Thursday. Moreover, the colleges will also set up free help desks to facilitate the filling up of online admission forms.
Under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), the department is also preparing a 10-minute video clip to answer general queries regarding the admission process.
