Adam Gilchrist appointment as India’s educational ambassador by the government of Australia would have brought cheers to many of his fans. This move was done mainly to increase the educational association of Australia with India. Christopher Pyne, Minister for Education and Training, announced this news before taking part in the Annual Ministerial Dialogue and third Australia-India Educational Council Meeting held at New Delhi on 24th August.
Mr Pyne said he was happy to appoint Mr Adam Gilchrist as the first Australia-India Education Ambassador. He spoke about Adam Gilchrist’s crucial role in providing support to the bilateral education relationship between Australia and India. He also wanted Australia to be a source for providing high quality education. He spoke about the government of Australia’s commitment in reaching out to the world.
Minister lavished praises on Adam Gilchrist as a person and also spoke about his glorious achievements. He then spoke about Gilchrist’s values and the integrity and said that these values of Gilchrist would be used by Australia for providing high quality education, training and research. He further added that, Gilchrist appointment as the ambassador would pave way for more education associations with India. He was also of the view that this appointment would increase the reputation of Australia further.
Adam Gilchrist expressed his happiness over his appointment as the educational ambassador and said that he felt honoured to take up the role which would strengthen the association between Australia and India. Gilchrist said he was happy to accept this challenging role that was assigned to him. He also said that he was already aware of the role of the education in the growth of modern India, when he was brand ambassador of Australia’s best research university named University of Wollongong, UOW, in the last seven years.
Adam Gilchrist spoke highly about the bond between India and Australia due to his long cricketing career in India and his appointment as education ambassador would enable him give back to the relationship through learning and training. It must be noted that, Minister Pyne and Adam Gilchrist would be visiting Delhi in the coming weeks to highlight the quality of Australia’s education system in India.
