AP EAMCET 2017 commenced on Monday, April 24 wherein over 61 thousand engineering aspirants participated. The test is being conducted by JNTU Kakinada on the behalf of APSCHE for admissions into engineering, agriculture and medical professional courses (except MBBS & BDS). A total of 2,77,689 students have registered for AP EAMCET 2017, counts the official statistics.
On Monday, April 24, the HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao released the password at 9.30 am at the JNTU-K EAMCET Office, following which the exam was opened across all the test centers. Addressing the gathering, he said the authorities concerned at the examination centers have been instructed not to enfore the ‘One-minute late rule.” The University had mentioend in its brochure that no candidate will be allowed into the exam cetner even if late by 1 minute. On this, HRD Minister said if a student is late by 5 or 10 minutes, he/she will be allowed to take the exam based on the genuineness of the case and the decision will be taken by the coordinator at the exam center.
A total of 1,98,064 applications have been submitted for engineering stream, while as much as 80,735 students have registered for agriculture courses. The entrance exam is being held as per the schedule; engineering entrance exam on April 24, 25 & 26 and agriculture and medical entrance exam on April 28. April 27 will be observed as a holiday.
On the first day (Monday), over 61 thousand aspirants took the test. The test was conducted in two shifts; morning shift from 10 am to 1 pm and afternoon shift from 2 pm to 5 pm. The attendance in both the shifts was recorded as around 95 percent on the first day. As much as 30,918 students appeared for the EAMCET in the morning shift, while 32,336 were registered for it. Similarly, out of 31,747 students registered for the afternoon shift, 30,173 attended the exam.
Around 8,870 candidates appeared for the test in 26 centers in Krishna District. As much as 7,287 candidates took the test in 19 centers of Guntur district on the first day. Around 3,260 candidates appeared for the test in Visakhapatnam zone. As per the reports, 992 candidates took the test in three centers in Srikakulam zone and 800 appeared for the test in 4 centers in Vizianagaram zone. Taking the number of candidates in a particular city, maximum 7,690 candidates have registered for the test from VIjayawada city, followed by 7,060 in Guntur and 3,820 in Visakhaptnam.
Breifing the gathering on the changes being employed in the AP EAMCET 2017, the HRD Minister highlighted that changing the mode of examination (AP EAMCET) from conventional OMR-based to online computer-based will help in eliminating the irregularities. The online mode of exam will also help in preparing and declaring the EAMCET results early, he added. From this year, the classes will be commencing from the second week of June in oder to avoid migration of students to colleges in other states, HRD Minister said.
As far as the EAMCET answer key is concerned, the preliminary answer key will now be released in the evening on April 28, earlier it was decided that the EAMCET key will be released on April 29. Similarly, the results will now be declared on May 5, instead of May 6, the same was said by the HRD Minister.
