24 Indians qualify for World Skills International Competition 2017

World Skills International Competition 2017 will be held in Abu Dhabi for which 24 will represent India. These 24 Indians have been selected through a three day long immense competition – Indian Skills Competition that took place in Delhi. This has been one of the most energetic skills competition in the history of our country till date. The names of 24 winners were announced at the time of the closing ceremony.

Most of the time, it is either an IT person or a sports person who makes India proud. But this time, it is a different set altogether who are competing against the best minds of the world in The World Skills International Competition. In this platform, Indians along with others get a chance to showcase their talent in different fields like that of beauty, welding, graphic design and much more. This also talks about the number of people from India who are willing to take jobs abroad. World Skills is one of the biggest vocational and skills event in the world. In this event, around 1100 competitors belonging to 70 countries take part. The two criteria on which the students are judged are skills and competencies. After every two years, this competition is organized and the students compete for various categories where they win gold, bronze and silver medals.

In the case of India Skills, the team is led by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and associate organization under the guidance of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The qualifiers were felicitated by Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship – Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The winners of the competition was awarded a sum of Rs. One lakh whereas the first and second runner-up were awarded Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 25,000 respectively.

Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “I am proud to witness such fervor and enthusiasm between participants of India Skills 2016. This is our first edition of such a big scale and I am elated with the response we have from all over the country. I am certain, Team India will yet again prove its mettle on the global skills map at World Skills Abu Dhabi 2017.”
