This year, in Telangana, the average fee for Engineering courses is likely to be increased by 19%. With this proposed hike, the average fee is expected to be around Rs. 49,760. There has been an increase of Rs. 8,000 if absolute numbers are taken into consideration since the last revision in the fee. AFRC (Admission and Fee Regulation Committee) has yet not approved of the same, but will soon make an official announcement.
They mostly do that in the first week of July. AFRC has the characteristic of following a fixed fee structure which is expected to be out in the month of July. The sooner the announcement is made, the earlier the process of admission gets finalized. As of now, the admission process is in a stage of certificate verification but will soon get the approval. As soon the fee gets finalized, the web options will be available to the students from 5th July 2016. Also, the government will also send the respective GOs to each of the colleges.
Almost, four colleges are there who have also crossed Rs. one lakh mark. The sources said that there will be an increase of 8-10% in the college fee. Also, one college crossed the mark of one lakh last year only, making it one of the costly college now in Telangana. Though the college reduced its fee by Rs. 4,000 this year.
The fee structure of the colleges in Telangana goes something like this. For a set of 69 colleges, the fee is Rs. 35,000, for another set of 8 colleges, the fee is Rs. 35,000-Rs.40,000. And for a set of another 69 colleges, the fee is Rs. 41,000- Rs.49,000. Which brings us to a conclusion that 147 colleges are under the mark of Rs. 50,000.
According to an expert, “As many as 46 colleges will be allowed to collect Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 59,000; 17 colleges between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 69,000; 16 colleges from Rs. 71,000 to Rs. 79,000; five colleges between Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 89,000 and 14 colleges between Rs. 90,000 and Rs. 99,000. Four colleges are in the above Rs. 1 lakh structure.”
Some of the colleges which are above Rs. 80,000 are good ones and are a decade old. Though AFRC had fixed a particular fee for a college, te government will only reimburse an amount of Rs. 35,000 and the rest will be done by the student. All those students who are scoring a good rank will be given full reimbursement.
